A GUIDE TO CENSORING ON LUNÉ LIBRARY
Hello Luné! Welcome to a simple guide to censoring for the &TEAM RPS (or &RPS) community. What do you mean by censoring? What is the purpose of censoring?
Censoring is a common phenomenon across K-Pop RPS fandoms that avoids using the exact letters of idol or ship names in order to reduce visibility of posts related to RPS. This is usually done to reduce the chance of idols finding RPS content about themselves, or of non-RPS fans finding RPS tweets. In some fandoms, this might involve using special characters that appear to be the same letter but are different; for &RPS, this typically means using either emoji combinations, or sseobang (Korean search prevention) names, which will be explained below. An additional purpose, mentioned below, is to aid you in finding art and other content for your preferred ships, particularly from Korean &RPS Luné!Do I have to censor everything?
Any and all Luné Library submissions must follow our censoring rules. This is a long-standing rule originally createded by international &RPS Luné who wanted to create a safe space to write RPF and talk about &TEAM ships together, adopted from the existing &RPS censoring style already used in Korean &RPS. With a growing fandom, there are also those who choose not to censor their &RPS related posts on their own twitter; this is fine, too! However, submission rules currently remain the same. How can I censor my posts for Luné Library submissions?
Here are the different ways of censoring the members' names:
| ♥ | Nickname | Sseobang name | Emoji |
|---|---|---|---|
| EJ | jju, ej | 쭈 (jju) | 🍊 |
| Fuma | fum, hum | 훔 (hum) | 🎮🦸 |
| K | kei, keng | 켕 (keng) | 👑 |
| Nicholas | nik, nc | 닉/닠 (nik), 네코 (neko) | 🍓 |
| Yuma | yum | 윰 (yum) | 🐈🐱 |
| Jo | jyo | 죠 (jyo) | 🍙🍚 |
| Harua | rung, hr | 룽 (rung) | 🐰 |
| Taki | tak, tk | 탘 (tak) | 🐥 |
| Maki | mak, mk | 맠 (mak) | 🐶 |
Sseobang names typically have the first name being the 'left' or the 'top' and the second name being the 'right' or the 'bottom'. '닉쭈' or 'nikjju' means that Nicholas is the left, and Euijoo is the right; '쭈네코' or 'jjuneko' means the opposite. Using a member's name on either side of another member's name suggests there is switching/no defined dynamic. For example: 🍊🍓/ 🍓🍊
EJ (left) + Nicholas (right) = 쭈네코 (jjuneko)
Nicholas (left) + EJ (right) = 닉쭈 (nikjju)
ncej (dynamic non-specific)
JNJ (both switch) = 쭈닉쭈 (jjunikjju)K-Luné are typically more strict in the way they use these terms, particularly on Twitter or on Korean fanwork sites such as Postype. You might find some Luné that love Jjuneko, but won't touch anything to do with Nikjju! Knowing sseobang terms helps I-Luné to know exactly how to search what they're looking for! Even if you choose to not use &RPS censoring for your own tweets, having some awareness of the terms can be helpful in finding like-minded people in the &RPS fandom.Other common examples:
훔켕 / humkeng /🎮👑, 맠룽 / makrung / 🐶🐰, 윰탘 / yumtak /🐈🐥, 죠켕 / jyokeng /🍙👑, 죠윰 / jyoyum /🍙🐈, 훔쭈 / humjju /🎮🍊, 룽윰 / rungyum /🐰🐈Check out this table for further information about the members' sseobang names and their combined ship names!
